The Bay Window & The Bow Window

 bay & bow window

The Bay Window

A bay window is a window space projecting outward from the main walls of a home, forming a bay in the room either square or polygonal. Bay windows became popular around the 1870's with the rise in Victorian architecture. A bay window can create the illusion that your room looks and feels bigger than it really is, especially with a great view behind it. Bay windows can also feature a bench or seating area, located in the living room or the kitchen of your house.

The Bow Window

A bow window, is a curved bay window. Bow windows are designed to create space by projecting beyond the exterior wall of a building, and to provide a wider view of the garden or street outside, and typically combine four or more casement windows, which join together to form an arch.
